    Victor Irish Nationals 2024


    The Victor Irish Nationals took place at the National Indoor arena, Dublin on 2-4th February, with Josh Magee adding 2 more titles to his growing National Title collection & become to join highest Men’s Doubles National Champion with 9 titles. Partnering Paul Reynolds, the world Ranked 64 pair were top seeds for the Men’s Doubles event and processed to the Final with comfortable wins in the opening rounds & Semi final. In the final they played Adam McAllister and David Walsh & it proved a close Match, but it was Josh & Paul who took it in 2 sets 21-16, 21-18.

    Josh added the mixed title with partner Moya Ryan. After a tight 3 set win against David Walsh & Kate Frost in the Semi Final. The World Ranked 154 pair won the Final 21-17, 21-7 against Sam McKay & Jennie King.

    U19 player Paige Woods & sister Rachal Woods had a great Women’s Doubles event, reaching the Final. The Ulster pair played a great semi Final against the 2nd Seeds, Moya Ryan & Siofra Flynn, to win in 3 sets, 21-17, 18-21, 22-20. In the final they faced the Top seeds Kate Frost & Sophia Noble. The Top seeds came out strong to win the opening set 21-9. The second set was much closer and could have went either way but it was Kate & Sophia who took it 21-18.

    Ulster also had 2 Semi final positions, with Rosin McKenna have a good quarter final win over Nicole Joy before losing out to the 2nd Seed Siofra Flynn.

    Mathew Cheung & partner Vincent  Pontanosa reached the Semi final after 2 good wins before lost out in a tight 3 set match, 8-21, 21-16, 14-21 in their semi Final against David Walsh & Adam McAllister.
