A total of 92 players competed, representing 8 squads/clubs and on the day they were 235 matches played.

The next session in the series of Coach Education Workshops will be delivered by Steve Butler former USA and England National Coach (take a look at Steve’s profile http://www.teamforza.co.uk/wp/coaches/steve-butler/).  

This session will take place at The National Badminton Centre on Saturday 18th May beginning at 9am and will finish at 5pm.

The day will involve 3 sessions in total with two of them being  based on court and a further theory session based around video analysis.

This session is open to any qualified coaches across the whole of Ireland so if you know of anyone that might be interested please feel free to forward on this information.  

The cost of the session will be £5 and will be worth 10 CPD points for coaches on the BI Coaching Register.

The Badminton event of the World Police & Fire Games takes place in the National Badminton Centre, Lisburn between the 6th August and 10th August 2013.

9am-12noon          Lisburn Raw Performance Squad and Lisburn Emerging Performance Squad

12noon-3pm          Gilford Raw Performance Squad

3pm-6pm               High Performance Squad

(Players are expected to arrive 15mins before this to do their own warm up)

Ulster Badminton would like to invite any coaches to come along to any or all of the sessions to lend a hand and observe the testing.  This is a great way to grow your knowledge on badminton specific fitness testing and get hands on experience of helping with the tests.

The VI World Senior Championships are due to be held 9th – 14th September 2013 in Ankara Spor Salunu Stadium, Ankara, Turkey.

The Sainsbury’s 2013 School Games is a multi-sport event for the UK’s elite young athletes of school age. Building on the success of the inaugural finals held in the Olympic Park in 2012, the Sainsbury’s 2013 School Games is being held in the city of Sheffield from 12-15 September.

The team travelled to Cambridgeshire on the 13-14^th April knowing that 1 win would guarantee winning the title and gain back to back league promotions.

Playing at Cambridge Regional College the young Ulster team including 3 U17 players and 4 U19 players, produced some great performances to win their home tie 12-3 and away tie 14-1.

The Ulster senior team are one step closer to achieving their aim for title success in the Premiership division.

Congratulations and well done to all the players involved in this season’s ICL matches and let’s build on the success of this seasons achievement next season in Division 4.

The workshop is aimed primarily at Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officers within clubs. The training will provide participants with further understanding to assist in their role of safeguarding children in sport.

This is one of the assessed criteria for the Ulster Badminton Clubmark NI Scheme and therefore this is a great opportunity for clubs currently involved in the scheme to ensure one of their members attends the course and also for those clubs considering the Clubmark NI process to ensure a club representative attends.

This season for the first time ever Clubs will be allowed to enter players into the competition.There are other changes to the structure with both an individual and team element to the competition with all competitors getting more matches.  For a full list of the rules please download Youth Games 2013 – Rules

Any clubs or squads interested in entering players can do so by returning a completed Ulster Badminton Youth Games 2013 – Entryto Scott Burnside at the Ulster Badminton Office by mail  or scottburnside@ulsterbadminton.com by email.

After finishing top of their group at the Team Challenge qualification in Macclesfield in November, the team travelled to Hatfield to compete against the best counties in England. The team performed very well with 6-0 wins over Dorset, Devon and Essex, however lost narrowly to Yorkshire, Surry and Hertfordshire 4-2, giving them an overall placing of 6^th in the Finals.
