    All Ireland Interprovincial's 2022


    The All Ireland Interprovincial's took place at Baldoyle Badminton Centre, Dublin on 9th & 10th April with the The Ulster 50+ Team taking the title with a number of runner up positions across the other Ulster Teams.

    Ulster had a total of 6 Teams entered into the event, U13, U15, U17, A Grade, 40+ and 50+.

    Ulster 50+ Team

    It was a straight shoot out for the title with only Ulster & Leinster fielding teams in the 50+ event. Ulster started strongly winning the first 2 Men's Doubles matches before Leinster levelled the tie by winning both the Women's Doubles matches. However, it was Ulster that took control of the ties winning both the Men's and Women's singles matches to lead 4-2 going into the 5 mixed Doubles matches. It was Ulster who dominated the mixed games winning 4 out of the 5 matches to take the title  over all 8-3. Well done to the full team: Leeann Suffern, Heather Sullivan, Katrine Porter, Sophia Wang, Pam Peard, Graham Henderson, Jeff Kearon, Nelson McDowell, Ian Young, Brian Moore.

    Ulster Under 13 Team

    The U13 Team started of the event against Munster and the teams couldn't be split after sharing the Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles and Boys & Girls Singles games to make it 3-3 going into the mixed games. It was Ulster who came out on top winning 2 out of the 3 mixed games to take the tie 5-4.

    Next up was Leinster. The tie played out very similar to the Munster match with the teams tied at 3-3 after the Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles and Boys & Girls Singles games. Ulster took the first Mixed Game to lead 4-3 but Leinster came back to win the last 2 mixed Games to win a very close tie 5-4. Great performance from all the U13 team to come away with a Runner up position. The full team; Conor Blakeman, Corey Chambers, Albert Martin, Kaden Tang, Emily Maxwell, Amy Moore, Kaitlyn Stephenson, Ella Thompson,

    Ulster U15 Team

    With 3 teams in the U15 event Ulster's first match was again Leinster. After a strong start winning both the Boys Doubles, Leinster bounced back to win the next 4 matches in the Girls Doubles and both Boys & Girls Singles to lead 4-2. Ulster came back winning the fist Mixed Doubles match but Leinster took control of the tie winning the final 2 mixed games to win 6-3.

    Their afternoon match was against Munster & the Ulster team proved too strong winning 8-1. With Leinster winning their tie against Munster, the Ulster U15 team had to settle for second position, however some great performance to push a strong Leinster team in their open match. Full Team: Amber Buchanan, Kimberly Pearson, Ella Cheung, Amy Russell, Rhys McAuley, Zach McAuley, Jerald Baiju, Aiden Biju Joy.

    Ulster U17 Team

    Opening up the competition against Munster, the Ulster U17 team had a brilliant start taking the tie 8-1, putting in some great performances. With Leinster beating Munster 9-0 earlier in the day, it was all winner takes in in the U17's final match against Leinster. Leinster started off very strong and took an early 4-0 lead after the Doubles matches. They kept the momentum going taking both the singles tie's to win the match. Ulster fought hard in the final mixed matches wining 2 out of the 3 games, with Leinster winning overall 7-2 & Ulster taking the runner up position. Full Team; Rory Comer, Callum Laird, Hari Narayan, Joshua Tang, Christopher Chee, Jamine Buchanan, Zoe Kearon, Paige Woods.

    Ulster A Grade Team

    The Ulster A Grade Team's first match of the competition was against Leinster. The team fought hard against a strong Leinster Team, including some tight 3 set matches but it was Leinster who took the Tie 9-0.

    Their second match was against Munster who also put out a strong team. As per their first match there were lots of tight Games and a 3 set match but it was the Munster Team who won the important points and took the tie 8-1. The team included a number of Younger U19 players & was a great experience for them to play Senior level matches. Full Team: Kyle Graham, Stuart McCollam, Kyle Dunn, Oran O'Connor, Steven John Wainwright,  Laura Bell, Chloe Woods, Cathryn Blair, Louise Goudie, Ceira Kennedy.

    Ulster 40+ Team

    With only Leinster fielding a Team in the 40+, it was another winner takes all tie for the Ulster 40+ team. After losing both of the Men's Doubles in 3 tight sets, Ulster came back in the Women's Double taking both Matches to level the tie at 2-2 going into  the singles matches. Leinster played 2 good games in the Singles taking both the Men & women's Singles to lead 4-2 going into the final 5 mixed Matches. Ulster took the first mixed Games to bring the tie closer but Leinster won the remaining 4 mixed matches to win overall 8-3. Full Team: Gary Hunter, Michael Turkington, Gareth Rogers, Jonathan Perry, Stephen Morrison, Gillian Grimes, Jayne Orr, Karen Heaney, Susan Stephenson, Deborah Kane.

     

    Ulster also had a Premier Team entered but unfortunately due to other commitments the other provinces were unable to Field teams.
