Ulster Badminton – Current Funding Position

ULster LogoUlster Badminton as well as many other local sports is faced with the prospect of a significantly reduced funding offer from Sport NI for the next 4 year cycle.

Whilst we are currently in the process of appealing certain aspects of our Sporting Winners Funding Award (high performance, talent) we have had to make the following changes:

  • Our Talent Identification Officer and High Performance Coach have had to leave us; this will be happening over the next month.
  • The current Raw Performance Squad programme will run as normal and the Emerging Performance Squad Programme will run until end of July 17. From August 17 onwards new methods of delivery are being considered and will be communicated as soon as possible.
  • Our overall Sports Strategy which was developed prior to our funding application will be reviewed to determine what parts we can accomplish with the available funding. We will also develop further plans to see how we can implement the remainder of our strategy and this will be communicated to our badminton community, partners and stakeholders in due course.

Our Sporting Clubs (participation) was highly successful where we have maintained one staffing post and will be adding to the Ulster Badminton team with an additional post

If any further information is required contact can still be made through the current squad coaches and/or direct to the Badminton Office.

Further updates on our funding position will be available at the AGM being held in the Holiday Inn Express, Antrim J1 on Wednesday 24 May 7.30pm.
